Beyonce kills magazine cover sales

Beyonce kills magazine cover

Beyonce keeps killing it. From having the highest selling celebrity fragrance in the world to now killing magazine cover sales, while Nicki Minaj is labeled magazine cover poison

From Women's Wear Daily
Newsstand sales for the first half of the year declined by 10 percent, according to figures released last week. The numbers show that editors would be wise to stick by a few operating principles: sex sells, three celebrities are better than one and Beyoncé trumps everyone, even the First Lady of the United States.
Vogue styled Beyoncé looking so regal for its March cover, she outsold an exclusive interview in April with Michelle Obama, 355,397 to 293,798, a difference of about 60,000 copies, digital replicas included.
Nicki Minaj is indisputably newsstand poison. Appearing on the April cover of Elle and in Teen Vogue in June-July, she sold the second fewest number of copies for both.

Dwayne Jones murdered by mob in Jamaica

Transgender teen, Dwayne Jones, murdered by mob in Jamaica

Jamaica is a third world country too, right? What a senseless killing. Read the story of how this 16 year old transgender teen (pictured above) was beaten, stabbed and shot dead by a mob in Jamaica

From Associated Press
Dwayne Jones was relentlessly teased in high school for being effeminate until he dropped out. His father not only kicked him out of the house at the age of 14 but also helped jeering neighbors push the youngster from the rough Jamaican slum where he grew up.
By age 16, the teenager was dead - beaten, stabbed, shot and run over by a car when he showed up at a street party dressed as a woman. His mistake: confiding to a friend that he was attending a "straight" party as a girl for the first time in his life.
"When I saw Dwayne's body, I started shaking and crying," said Khloe, one of three transgender friends who shared a derelict house with the teenager in the hills above the north coast city of Montego Bay. Like many transgender and gay people in Jamaica, Khloe wouldn't give a full name out of fear.

The Made of More TV commercial is a nice piece about Sam, a sign writer who has come to a big city to hustle - “make a name for himself by making names for others, he works hard by day making signs and by night he dreams”

More people see what he can do, including his latest creation, the iconic red Arthur Guinness signature at a local bar. The simplicity and relevance of the commercial’s message is just right for a lot of people today especially those who have the drive and character to continue to aspire to great things.

FG, Parents To Blame For Unemployment – Analyst

FG, Parents To Blame For Unemployment – Analyst

A human capital consultant, Michael Adeleye, has attributed the rate of unemployment in the country to the federal government and parents who rate students and graduates of polytechnics as second class in comparison to university students and graduates.
“Technical skills should be one of the basic fundamental areas where the government should look into,” he said while discussing the unemployment challenge in Nigeria on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.
Although white collar jobs are scarce, Mr Adeleye said artisans can create employment but they also are hard to find in the country as a result of the state of technical education system in the country.
Many of the tilers, professional plumbers and electricians who operate in the country are foreigners, he said.
For this, the government, parents and general society are to be blamed. He added that there is discrimination between those who go to the Universities and those who studied in polytechnics.
He explained that both systems of education are set up for different functions in the economy. However, the Federal Government has concentrated more on university system which is phasing out the polytechnic system.
Asked if a boost in self-esteem on the part of students of polytechnics would help the situation, he said “self-esteem is something everyone should have” but pointed out that parents play an important role as 9 out of 10 parents would not want their wards to study courses like tiling or plumbing.
